Michigan State students have spent all week, as is tradition during Michigan-Michigan State week, guarding the Sparty statue on campus. Instead, another statue on Michigan State's campus was vandalized.
The Magic Johnson statue, which stands in front of Breslin Center, was vandalized sometime Tuesday night. The statue of the Spartan great had an "M" spray painted on his chest, with "BEAT STATE" painted across the base of the statue. The face of the statue also was spray painted, as was its shoes.
The No. 7 Spartans travel to Ann Arbor on Saturday to play the No. 12 Wolverines.
