For years, fans have been speculating the story of Tupac Shakur's career and sudden death, but now, fans get the opportunity to relive an unforgettable era through the new biopic, "All Eyez on Me."
Demetrius Shipp Jr. has recently taken over the Hip Hop scene starring in the new biopic as the late rapper, Tupac Shakur.
Shipp, whose 28-years-old, has always been told that he looks like Tupac but, he never imagined pursing an acting career. When the casting calls opened for the film, a close friend persuaded him to try out.
It was destined for Shipp to be a star. His father had the opportunity to work with Shakur to produce his song "Toss It Up." When Shipp's father discovered that he was auditioning for the starring role, he took matters into his own hands and sent his audition tape to L.T. Hutton, the film's producer.
With having no previous acting experience, Shipp blew the producers away with his acting skills. He then was officially offered the starring role that would soon change his life.
Shipp had big shoes to fill, so he spent hours watching YouTube videos, reading the same books Shakur read, studied the Black Panthers to get a sense of his life experiences and spoke to people who were close to the late rapper.
Shipp hopes that fans are able to take away a bigger message from the film. He wants people to understand that the media publicized the negativity in his life, but that doesn't take away from the rapper's accomplishments, what he set out to accomplish and the man he became to be.
Catch the movie in theatres Friday, June 16th .
