East Lansing's Winter Glow Event


There is something for everyone at the popular annual Winter Glow event – East Lansing’s free, outdoor winter festival. This winter-inspired annual tradition will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 in downtown East Lansing with a wide variety of fun-filled seasonal activities from 2-5 p.m.It’s free. 

The Winter Glow activities will be located in Ann Street Plaza, Fountain Square and inside the East Lansing Marriott. The outdoor spaces are adjacent to the intersection of Albert and M.A.C. avenues.
 

The Winter Glow is produced by the City of East Lansing and is sponsored by the East Lansing Downtown Management Board, MSU Federal Credit Union and East Lansing Arts Commission.

2016 Activities



This year’s Winter Glow will feature ice carving, an ice sculpture walk, a winter barnyard, horse and carriage rides, a special outdoor holiday farmer’s market, a heated music tent, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus (3-6 p.m. inside the Marriott, photos are $3), family friendly activities and games, wandering carolers with The Steiner Chorale, winter photo scenes, marshmallow roasting, merchant activities, hot chocolate, roasted nuts and much more.

Green Friday (& Saturday too!), Dec. 2-3


Support local businesses! This year’s Green Friday shopping event will take place in conjunction with the Winter Glow! Shoppers are invited to downtown for a special East Lansing version of the popular day-after-Thanksgiving Black Friday sales.

Outdoor Holiday Farmer’s Market


A special outdoor holiday farmer’s market will feature many of the popular East Lansing Farmer’s Market vendors. This year's participating vendors will include Jenny's Sweets and Treats, Small House, Beagle's Cafe & Bakery, Droscha Sugarbush, The Cheese People of Grand Rapids, 45th Parallel Pickle and Clothing Company, Good Eats Diva, Rust Belt Roastery and Applegarth Honey.

Jingle Jam Music Tent


The Jingle Jam Music Tent will host a live musical performance by The Sea Cruisers from 2-5 p.m. This four-piece professional band has been bringing the best sounds of the 50's, 60's and 70's to mid-Michigan for more than 30 years.

Winter Glow program guides (PDF) will be available at the festival information booth in Fountain Square, located at the corner of M.A.C. and Albert avenues. The Green Friday shopping guide (PDF) will also be available.

Silver Bells In The City 2016 11-18-16


The entire city will glow with thousands of lights for the Silver Bells in the City celebration, bringing together family and friends from across the state of Michigan and beyond to kick-off the holiday season.

Silver Bells in the City is a Lansing tradition that is loved by generations of families. Silver Bells in the City attracts over 80,000 people to the Capital City each year and takes place annually on the Friday before Thanksgiving in Lansing, Michigan.

 

Silver Bells in the City is presented by the Lansing Board of Water and Light and the City of Lansing and is coordinated by a dedicated Coordinating Committee under the direction of Downtown Lansing Inc. Silver Bells in the City is produced with the assistance of many passionate volunteers and remains free to all through the support of almost one hundred area sponsors along with assistance from the State of Michigan and City of Lansing.

Free Rides With CATA for Voters


Lansing, Mich. — To ensure transportation for those who want to vote, the Capital Area Transportation Authority will offer system-wide free rides to the

polls for the state general election Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. A valid voter registration card must be presented upon boarding.

 

Spec-Tran, Redi-Ride and Rural Service rides must be scheduled by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. Same-day rides will not be available.
