Ricky Burns

Michigan born Michigan raised, I literally didn't leave this state for over 6 years but I was ok with that because I love it here so much. I first wanted to get into radio when I was 17 and realized I was too dumb to go to college. Radio is pretty much my life, I have been working in this industry for 9 years now and I have loved every second of it. Before getting into entertainment I had every job under the sun, I did janitorial work, telemarketing, I even was a pizza shop manager. I got my first job in radio doing promotions, at the same time I was the night show intern on WDZH (98.7 Amp Radio) in Detroit. That led me to move 45 minutes north to Flint where I hosted the Night show for 3 years on WRCL (Club 93.7). After that it was back to Detroit, I was the music director and midday host of both WJLB (97.9) and WMXD (Mix 92.3). And now I have moved to the Capital city to be the Program Director and afternoon host on Power 96.5.

Unkle Jojo

Unkle Jojo, aka "The Hometown Hero" was born and raised in Lansing MI and has been making a name for himself over the past couple of years. His nickname was coined due to his always positive and joking nature as he shares his experiences with others, with hopes he can inspire them to follow their dreams the same way he always has.
Jojo received his start in radio after walking in not once, but twice into MacDonald Broadcasting, which is home to AM station 1320 WILS and both FM Stations Mike 101.7 and Power 96.5 WQHH. Being a native of Lansing, he grew up listening to Power 96.5 and always aspired to be a jock for the station. His first attempt was in the summer of 2015, where he was granted two interviews but was never called back. After not hearing back that summer he decided to continue his education at Central Michigan University where he graduated Class of 2017 with a B.S. in Communication.
It was after his graduation, when he decided it was time to try again. Within a weeks worth of time passing after graduation Jojo found himself back in the same position he was 2 years prior. With a degree and an incredible amount of confidence, Jojo filled out an application and told the secretary that he was willing to work any position available if it meant he would be able to work in the world of radio. Not even a full 2 days had passed and he had got a call from Mike Cohen whose show was on 1320 WILS. Jojo was offered a board operator position and he happily accepted.
From not having any experience when he first walked in Jojo worked diligently to master the craft. In just under a month of working along with Mike Cohen, he was offered an overnights board operators position with the station he had always dreamed about, Power 96.5. With no hesitation, he accepted and worked both Mike Cohen Show and his newly founded overnight time slot on Power 96.5. Working both spots, Jojo progressed fast and was soon allowed the opportunity to speak regularly during his overnights time slot.
Now you can catch Unkle Jojo regularly from 2am-6am during his show "Unkle Jojo Live". He also fills-in often so don't be shocked if you hear him at any other part of the day and any day of the week. From hosting events, to actively being apart of the community Unkle Jojo can always be seen spreading messages of positivity. His motto and closing outro everyday is... Be great 2day! If you would like to see more about how he spreads this message you can follow him on Twitter, Instragram, and Facebook @unklejojo405.
