LORI ADAMS SIMON

Lori Adams Simon is a native of Joliet, IL and has resided in the Greater Lansing Area since 1983. She is a graduate of Okemos High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Currently, Lori is a 2016 Candidate for a Certificate of Diversity Management in Health Care.

Lori began her public service career in 1990 working for the Michigan House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide for Nelson W. Saunders, and shortly thereafter became his Chief of Staff. In 2014, she resigned from the Michigan Department of Community Health after 16 years and accepted a position with Sparrow Health System as the Diversity/Inclusion Community Advocate.

Lori is a true servant leader who is committed to giving back to her community. She currently serves as President of The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Lansing, Vice President of the Greater Lansing Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., Community Service Chair for Les Meres ét Debutantes Club, Admissions Ambassador for Western Michigan University, and Board Member for the American Red Cross-Great Lakes Region and the Oldham Project. Lori served as President of the City of Lansing Board of Ethics for two years and was a Board Member for the Westside YMCA.

Lori is a proud Diamond Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. which is an international public service organization founded in 1913. Lori’s passion for service has been inspired by her Sorority Sisters: Dorothy Height and Mary McLeod Bethune. Sister Height stated that “’ Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop”. And like Sister McLeod Bethune, Lori knows that it is important not only to be concerned, but to use whatever talent she has to be of some service in the community.

Lori has celebrated life with her husband Scott Simon for 25 years and they are the proud parents of Sophia Marie.
