The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is a four and a half hour morning show featuring DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God's unrivaled interviews with celebrities and hip-hop artists. From megastars like Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and Arnold Schwarzenegger to rap icons such as Rick Ross, Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane, every guest visiting The Breakfast Club is grilled with their signature blend of honesty and humor. The results are the best interviews to be found on radio.

The Breakfast Club includes segments such as The Rumor Report, Donkey of The Day, and DJ Envy's People's Choice Mix. Listeners are informed about pop-culture news during The Rumor Report, while The Breakfast Club gives their unique views on each topic. During Donkey of the Day, Charlamagne tha God chooses a public figure or celebrity to poke fun at after public missteps. DJ Envy's People's Choice Mix consists of 25 minutes straight of DJ Envy's award winning music mixes.

Tony Rankin is the new Program Director for Power 96.5 and leading the charge with The Midday Hustle weekdays from 10 am to 2 pm Tony’s extensive broadcast career includes PD of WIZ Cincinnati. Program Director of KVGS V108 Las Vegas, and Afternoon Host for WMXB Tuscaloosa. Tony has also worked in Detroit with WGPR. With over 30 years in the broadcasting business Tony brings a tremendous amount of knowledge in the Hip Hop and R&B world.

Genesis

Genesis started his radio career as a host for a weekly gospel radio broadcast in Battle Creek, Mi which aired from 2011-2013. In 2019 Genesis started working as an on-site coordinator for remote broadcasts at another Lansing area radio brand prior to bringing his talents and personality to Power 96.5 in January 2022 and has since been promoted to Promotions Director for all four Lansing based MacDonald Broadcasting radio stations and Full time afternoon On Air personality for Power 96.5

When Genesis isn’t on the air he spends his time growing and developing his own brands by hosting the regional successful Karaoke Kickback, serving as a DJ for weddings and various events, meeting talent as a regional talent scout for America’s Got Talent and providing professional print services to the community and abroad through his Banner King business. Noah

Born and raised in the Greater Lansing area, Noah B, also known as “Eyes OnThaTrack”, is a father first with a passion for music and the entertainment industry. Although he attended Everett High, he left his senior year and graduated from Potterville High School.
where he then went on to attend Lansing community college majoring in music Technology. After his short time at LCC, Noah went on to pursue DJing around Central Michigan. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his family, making beats ( available on SoundCloud) or spending time in his home studio with his close friends, where he produces their music. His dream goal is to move up in the entertainment industry as an on-air personality. He considers himself ambitious and highly motivated.

Marty Mar

Marty Mar was born in Flint, but raised in a small town 30 miles west of Lansing, called Durand. He completed his high school experience at Durand High, but also had a short stint at Laingsburg High.

Marty completed his Broadcast Media Arts in August, 2022. Where after completion of the course, he was offered to board op for our sister stations, 1320 WILS, morning show and the evening newscast part-time.

Marty Mar, Noah M, loves to listen to all kinds of music and will do anything to make sure Lansing is vibing when he is behind the mic.

Effie

Effie Alofoje-Carr is "Living the Dream" as an entrepreneur, public speaker, event host and on-air personality. A proud Detroit native, she attended Renaissance High school and has a degree from Michigan State University. Effie is married to Destavioun Sr. and they are parents to their son DJ. Eboni

Eboni is an Undergrad at Michigan State University with a Bachelors in Media and Information, who loves to give back to the community. She was born in Florida, where Aretha Franklin inspired her to see music as outlet. Over the years classically trained as vocalist and pianist, while learning about audio engineer. Volunteered at LCC Radio Station, recording music with friends and being apart of a rock band growing up. Now, ecstatic to gain more knowledge with broadcasting, communication, media and more at Power 96.5 while working the Saturday 10am to 2 pm shift.

Dakota "Kota Almanza was born and raised in Lansing, and has been listening to Power 96.5 since he was a baby. Now he works at the station he dreamed of when he was younger! In addition to working as On Air talent for the Loud Mix with DJ Grooves, Dakota also works a full time job while attending class at LCC, where he's focusing on a career in Broadcasting. You can catch him Friday nights from 10pm-2am

PhaShunta

PhaShunta Smith earned her bachelor's degree at Eastern Michigan University where she majored in communications, media and theatre arts. Currently, she attends Bowling Green State University as a graduate student. PhaShunta's media career began when she created her own media platform in 2013 interviewing people to continue shining light on those who are making an impact and to showcase her media talent. Also, she’s held valuable internships both in the radio and television industry. Aside from the media world, she loves to spend time with her family. Some of her favorite music genres are Hip Hop, R&B and Old School. She is excited about joining Power 96.5!

Maya

Having a Trinidadian bloodline, growing up in queen Ny, and meeting people with an awesome ear for flavor; music has made itself a beautiful theme in my life. Soca, reggae, dancehall, metal, drum and base, jazz, blues, and of course hip hop and r&b are genres that I find quite enjoyable. Maya will be hosting the Loud Mix on Saturday Nights with DJ Grooves from 10pm to 2am

Aside from listening to music I prefer to spend my time connecting with the sun, moon, and planet earth. Listening to my thoughts and following the whispers as they always keep me whole.

DJ Grooves

Pat "DJ Grooves" Cerullo traces his career in broadcasting back to the summer of 1996. Before he was old enough to get a drivers license he was spending his weekends volunteering at a small college radio station in Easton, PA. After relocating to State College, PA to continue his education at Penn State University in 2003, Grooves met Hot 107.9 program director Mike Jax. This led to his first full time job in radio as the station's night time personality.

He and fellow Penn Stater Drew "DJ Goofy White Kid" Hall established Tin Can And String, L.L.C. with the vision of providing syndicated mix show programming to affiliates around the county. They launched the company with one affiliate in Lima, OH in 2006.

Walt Baby Love

For over 35 years Walt 'Baby' Love has continued to bring his own unique blend of Christian faith, inspirational personal experiences and motivation to millions of listeners each week.

"If you put your faith in God, trust Him and do your part, God will do his part – making a significant difference in your life. He has certainly made a change in mine.” These words are the philosophy that Walt follows on a daily basis.

He was ordained in the ministry at the First House of Prayer, located in Chicago, in June 1997. He was later ordained as a Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) denomination at FAME, First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles. In 2003, Walt earned the designation of local elder in the AME Church and today, he is an associate minister at FAME. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary located in Pasadena, California.
