A native to Lansing, Michigan, Calvin Jones attended Eastern High
School and continued his education at Lansing Community College,
earning an Associate Degree. Jones served in the US Marine Corps
working in Administration/ Communication and was honorably
discharged in 1976. His career at the Lansing Board of Water & Light,
began in 1977, where he has invested talent, time, and experience,
moving quickly from General Maintenance Laborer to Advanced
Laborer to General Supervisor, and Manager of Government Relations
in 2007. This position has afforded him the opportunity to positively
change the direction of his community through involvement in civic
programs, policy regulation in nonprofit organizations, and serving as
a liaison for the Lansing Board of Water & Light in partnerships and
sponsorships with the City of Lansing and local corporations. He is
also a member of the Lansing Economic Development Board, Tax
Increment Authority and the Brownsfield Redevelopment Authority.
As of 2024 Jones serves as the Director of Government & Community
relations for Lansing BWL and has served the Lansing community on
various boards and a variety of community leadership roles for nearly

50 years.
